OTP Bank will not pass extraordinary financial-sector tax on to customers
<p>Budapest, July 8, 2010 (MTI-ECONEWS) - Hungary s OTP Bank will not pass on the extraordinary financial-sector tax to be imposed on banks on to customers, nor will the tax impede credit activity at the bank, OTP Bank Retail Banking Director Zoltan Illes announced on Thursday.</p>
Mr Illes noted that OTP Bank has granted 10pc more mortgages during the first five months 2010 than it did during the same period in 2009.
Banks are expected to pay 60pc of the HUF 200bn tax in 2010 based on their total assets.
