Budapest, January 25 (MTI) - The economy ministry has submitted several proposals to the government that serve to ensure budget stability this year in terms of revenues and deadlines, the government s press spokesman told public TV on Friday.

Andras Giro-Szasz said opposition criticism that the 10 percent price reduction for utility bills would hit value-added tax revenues was "baseless". He said household savings owing to the utility bill measure would be diverted to consumption, generating more VAT revenue. Further, shop tills soon to be connected electronically to the tax office would generate planned revenues by the deadline, he said. Fully 400 billion forints (EUR 1.35bn) have been set aside in the budget as reserves, he added.

The 2013 budget is based on a conservative growth forecast, the spokesman said. Output in the autos sector is expected to more than double, he said, adding that economic output was likely to outperform the official forecast. Accordingly, the government may be in a position to enforce the career model for teachers, he said.
