Budapest, October 28 (MTI) - The Budapest Military Tribunal will press charges before the end of this year against two former chiefs of the national security office, the former minister overseeing the secret services and the co-owner of a company with Russian ties, Magyar Nemzet daily said on Friday.

The military tribunal will finish presenting the documents in a case referred to in the press as "espionage scandal" involving former officials of the Socialist government headed by Ferenc Gyurcsany, and press treason charges.

The case started on June 28 this year with the arrest of Lajos Galambos, head of the National Security Office between 2004 and 2007, on suspected espionage activities. Three days later, former secret services minister Gyorgy Szilvasy was questioned. on July 1, Galambos s successor Sandor Laborc was arrested and questioned on complicity accusations. The fourth suspect is co-owner of Zomok Kft security company Laszlo Puski.

Because the details of the accusations are subject to the official secrecy law, the exact charges cannot be published by the media.

Galambos lawyer Lajos Molnar told the paper that he and Galambos had gone through eight volumes of documents produced during the investigation. He insisted that these did not provide sufficient evidence to support the charges.

According to the paper, the military tribunal will prepare the indictment by December and the Military Council is likely to set a date for a trial early next year.

Szilvasy was minister without a portfolio in charge of the civilian security services from July 2007 to April 2009. Former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany appointed Laborc NBH director on Szilvasy s proposal in December 2007. Laborc resigned on July 20, 2009 in connection with the UD Zrt affair.
