Hungary follows Bulgaria s example in cutting taxes, says PM - agency

Budapest, October 8 (MTI) - Hungary is following the Bulgarian example with its decision to introduce a flat tax and cut by half taxes paid by businesses, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov in Sofia on Friday.

Hungary wants to stand on its own feet and stop relying on external loans, Bulgaria s Focus news agency cited the prime minister as saying.
Orban blamed the Socialists for destroying the economy to an extent that, once the global economic crisis set in, Hungary could no longer finance its commitments.
"At that time international financial organisations offered help to Hungary, and we are thankful to the IMF because it saved the country," he said.
Orban said the loan raised by the Socialists should be repaid in the coming three years.
"We would like to prevent Hungary from getting into a similar situation again," said Orban.
