VAT increase to push up fuel prices on Jan 1.

Budapest, December 30 (MTI) – The wholesale price of both petrol and diesel will go up on January 1, due to a two percentage point increase of VAT to 27 percent.

The wholesale price of 95-octane petrol will go up by 6 forints to 406-408 forints per litre and of diesel by 7 forints to 427 forints.

The price of petrol hit a historic high after mid-November reaching 402-404 forints, and will, with the increase next month, set a new record.

Hungarian fuels group MOL raised the wholesale price of petrol by 5 forints per litre this week. The price of diesel remained unchanged.
