Tarr’s Turin Horse wins Berlinale Silver Bear

Budapest, February 19 (MTI) – Hungarian director Bela Tarr’s “The Turin Horse” won the Jury Grand Prix (Silver Bear) prize in the 61st Berlin Film Festival on Saturday.

On Friday, Tarr’s black-and-white film was also awarded the main prize of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).

The Turin Horse has a simple subject matter: the poor health of an old work horse that belongs to a rural farmer and his daughter, and how the horse’s death effects their daily life.
