President Schmitt to attend UN summit in New York

Budapest, September 18 (MTI) – Hungarian President Pal Schmitt will leave on Sunday for a week-long official visit to the United States, where he will attend a UN summit in New York, the president’s office told MTI on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Schmitt will address the UN Summit on Millennium Development Goals. He will give a talk during debate of the General Assembly on Friday.

    Schmitt’s schedule includes meetings with his Uzbek, Macedonian, Dominican, Sri Lankan and Estonian counterparts, as well as with the vice president of the Maldives.

    Schmitt and Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi will attend an event for the Society of Hungarian Scientists on Wednesday.
