Opel announces EUR 500m expansion at engine plant in Hungary

Budapest, September 21 (MTI) – Car maker Opel will spend 500 million to expand its engine plant in the Hungarian city of Szentgotthard, Opel Vice President Reinald Hoben and Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced in Budapest on Tuesday.

The expansion will create 800 jobs.

    The government will decide in mid-October on a subsidy for the investment, Orban said. The government aims to recoup the subsidy on the national economy level within four years, he added.

    The investment will create 2,500-3,000 jobs for Opel suppliers, Orban said.
