POLL - Fidesz-Socialist gap narrows in Sept - paper

Budapest, September 30 (MTI) - The gap has narrowed between Hungary s ruling Fidesz-Christian Democratic alliance and the rival Socialists in September, daily Nepszabadsag reported on Friday, citing a Szonda Ipsos poll.

Budapest, September 30 (MTI) - The gap has narrowed between Hungary s ruling Fidesz-Christian Democratic alliance and the rival Socialists in September, daily Nepszabadsag reported on Friday, citing a Szonda Ipsos poll.

Fidesz s support fell by three points to 47 percent among voters with a clear party preference, while the Socialists stood on 27 percent, unchanged from August, in the same voter group. Radical nationalist Jobbik added three points to 18 percent in this group, and the green opposition LMP party gained 2 points, ending up with 7 percent of support in September, the poll said.

 

Among the whole voting sample, Fidesz s support fell by 3 points, while the Socialists shredded half a percentage point from August to September. Jobbik s voter base stayed level while LMP added two points in this group.

 

The number of people who said they would not vote rose by 3 percentage points to 24 percent in September and those who were undecided stayed level at 28 percent, the poll said.
