Still no date for resumption of talks with IMF on financial assistance

Washington, DC, November 1 (MTI) - A date has still not been set for the resumption of official talks between Hungary and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Gerry Rice, external relations director at IMF, said on Thursday.

Washington, DC, November 1 (MTI) - A date has still not been set for the resumption of official talks between Hungary and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Gerry Rice, external relations director at IMF, said on Thursday.

Rice told a news conference in Washington that the IMF is currently not planning to send a mission to resume talks in Hungary.

"Meaningful progress on programme negotiations would require a clear indication from the authorities that they see the IMF and the EC as valuable partners in designing the reform and adjustment process and a clear commitment from them to policies that ensure balance the fiscal adjustment and promote growth," Rice said.

"A general direction of these policies were summarised in our press release in July," he added.
