Local councils at greatest risk for corruption, report shows (adds details)

Budapest, June 23 (MTI) – Hungary’s local councils are at the greatest risk for corruption, according to an “integrity report” by the State Audit Office supported with European Union funding.

The report gauges corruption risk at institutions on a scale of 0 to 100. Local councils had 66 points, the highest number of all institutions gauged. Independent state bodies followed with 45 points. The police and army had 43 points as did regional state administration institutions.

ASZ based the report on a survey of a cross-section of 4,111 institutions from more than 14,000 budget-funded bodies. ASZ received 1,100 completed questionnaires from the institutions.
