Budapest, September 22 (MTI) - German engineering giant Bosch on Thursday inaugurated a 20 million euro automotive technology plant at its base in Miskolc (NE Hungary).

The 23,000sqm plant was inaugurated by Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Bosch board member Wolf-Henning Scheider.

Orban said the plant was a sign of German investors confidence in Hungary. He added that the current system of skilled worker training in Hungary needs to be modernised in order to ensure that young people have the skills required in the labour market. The future lies in the cooperation of large industrial companies and universities. It is worthless for the state to maintain and develop universities if they have no links with the production plants that will employ graduates, Orban said.

Bosch plans to raise headcount at its base in Miskolc from 1,900 to 3,000 in the coming three years as a result of the investment.

The company has so far invested 50 billion forints in Miskolc, over 26 billion forints of which has been spent on the automotive factory.

Scheider said that an additional 13 billion forints could be invested in the next five years in order to fully equip the factory and run it at maximum capacity.
