Hungary submits preliminary Europe 2020 action plan to Brussels

Budapest, November 12 (MTI) – Hungary’s Economy Ministry on Friday submitted to the European Commission its preliminary National Action Plan containing commitments for the Europe 2020 strategy.

Aims include boosting the employment rate for 20-64 year-olds to 75 percent and increasing spending on R+D to 1.8 percent of gross domestic product in line with the EU target.

    The employment rate in the 15-64 old age group averaged 56.0 percent in July-September. R+D spending in Hungary came to 1.15 percent of GDP in 2009, data published by the Central Statistical Office show.

    The ministry said it is starting broad-ranging consultations with social partners with the aim of debating certain points of the plan.
