Hungary inflation picks up to 5.7pc in April – KSH

Budapest, May 11 (MTI) – Consumer prices in Hungary rose 5.7 percent year-on-year in April, accelerating from 5.5 percent year-on-year in March, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday.

Consumer prices rose 0.8 percent on the month, by the same monthly pace as in February and in March.


The twelve-month inflation exceeded expectations: London emerging market analysts forecast the twelve-month rate between 5.4-5.6 percent on Tuesday. Analysts polled by the business daily Napi Gazdasag put the twelve-month inflation to 5.5 percent and the monthly rate to 0.7 percent.


Last year annual average inflation was 3.9 percent.
