PM Orban sends letter of reply to US State Secretary, says spokesman

Budapest, January 6 (MTI) - Prime Minister Viktor Orban has replied to a recent letter by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the prime minister s spokesman told MTI on Friday.

"The prime minister has replied with appropriate thoroughness to all issues raised, in line with standards of relations among allies," Peter Szijjarto said.

In her letter sent to the Hungarian government before Christmas, Clinton spoke about the "systematic dismantling of Hungary s democratic institutions" and reiterated US concerns about the independence of the Hungarian judiciary, the country s new church law and the freedom of the media.
