“Fidesz has no idea about how the manage the present economic and fiscal situation,” Mesterhazy said in Papa, NW Hungary, at a campaign rally ahead of the mayoral election there.
Mesterhazy also criticised Fidesz’s approach to democracy, saying that the government had, with various measures, upset the checks and balances of the state.
He said the way it had gone about drafting the new constitution demonstrated that Fidesz had made no attempt at dialogue. For this reason, the Socialists “will not in any way legitimise” the process, Mesterhazy said.
