Public work schemes add most jobs to Hungary s economy in March

Budapest, May 19 (MTI) - Hungary s business sector added 8,400 new jobs to the economy in March, but the rest of the 21,800 extra jobs were thanks to public work schemes, Central Statistical Office (KSH) data show.

Overall employment numbers rose for the second month in a row in March after a fall of 124,400 between September 2010 and January this year.

The drop included a 87,900 fall in the number of people employed in public work schemes parallel with a restructuring of the programmes by the government.

The number of employees in the public sector rose 12,100 to 728,200 in March from a month earlier, KSH noted.
