Fast food bill soon to be tabled in parliament

Budapest, June 10 (MTI) – The ruling Fidesz party’s bill aimed at regulating fast food restaurants will soon be tabled in parliament, the head of the party’s parliamentary group told a press conference on Friday.

The bill primarily seeks to protect the health of young customers, Janos Lazar told reporters.

Lazar said that fast food restaurants should make a greater effort to indicate calories, sugar and grease content of their products in advertisements. He also suggested that restaurants should only give children gifts if the menu they order meet requirements of a healthy diet.

Lazar said the bill was targeted primarily at McDonald’s, Burger King as well as restaurants at schools and other public institutions in Hungary.
