Budapest, January 13 (MTI) - Prime Minister Viktor Orban s Friday morning statement on Hungary s economy undermine confidence in Hungary and cause damage to the national economy, the deputy group leader of the opposition radical nationalist party said on Friday.

Orban told Hungarian public radio that Hungary needs financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund in order to focus on economic growth instead of having to deal with financial uncertainties.

Janos Volner said Orban s statement was misleading because "everyone is aware that Hungary s economic policy is defunct."

He added that since the Orban government entered office, public debt increased by 2,013 billion forints (EUR 6.51bn) and at the same time, around 2,000 billion forints in private pension savings "disappeared." In eighteen months the government s economic policy caused losses of more than 4,000 billion forints, he said.
