Budapest, December 9 (MTI) - Revenues from Hungary s chips tax introduced earlier this year will be used to finance bonuses to health care employees working in hazardous and demanding positions, daily Magyar Nemzet said on Friday.

The tax levied on food and drinks with high sugar, salt, carbohydrate and caffeine content will be sufficient to pay bonuses of 27,000 forints to 90,000 forints (EUR 90 - 300).

The highest bonuses will be paid to anaesthetists, doctors and nurses working in intensive care, and theatre nurses and assistants, the paper said.

Some 42,000 of Hungary s 120,000 health care workers will be affected. The chips tax is expected to generate nearly 3.5 billion forints.
