Budapest, July 13 (MTI) - Several hundred people gathered at the headquarters of Hungarian Radio in central Budapest on Wednesday, for a silent protest against lay-offs in the public media.
The demonstration was also attended by representatives of several large trade unions, as well as leaders of the opposition Socialist and green LMP parties.
Participants were wearing white ribbons and placed candles in front of a symbolic coffin.
"Cleansing and destruction in the public media must be stopped," the head of the organising federation of public service media trade unions (Kozszat), Balazs Nagy Navarro said earlier.
Kozszat has called a rally at the radio for next Wednesday.
