Budapest, December 3 (MTI) - Janos Lazar, the parliamentary group leader of the ruling Fidesz party, on Saturday welcomed a recent accord the government and trade unions reached on Hungary s new labour code.
Addressing a public forum in central Hungary s Agard Lazar said that "we have retained individual and collective employee rights, while at the same time opened a new opportunity for employers".
It was necessary to create a new labour code to help employers maintain their competitiveness in Europe through flexible rules more in line with changing economic conditions, he added.
Economy Minister Gyorgy Matolcsy announced on Friday that the government had signed an agreement with three trade union federations concerning collective employee rights and labour conditions as outlined in the draft code.
