Number of new jobs rise in December - labour office

Budapest, January 19 (MTI) - More than 10,000 employers posted almost 33,000 new jobs at employment offices in Hungary last December, figures published on the website of the National Labour Affairs Office (NMH) show.

Budapest, January 19 (MTI) - More than 10,000 employers posted almost 33,000 new jobs at employment offices in Hungary last December, figures published on the website of the National Labour Affairs Office (NMH) show.

The number of new jobs was up 11.1 percent from November and more than doubled from twelve months earlier.

 

About 70 percent of the new jobs were in public works programmes.

 

Unadjusted figures show the number of registered job-seekers at the end of December was 552,300, up 4.9 percent from a month earlier and 6.6 percent lower than at the end of 2010.

 

More than 126,000 of the job-seekers, or 22.9 percent of the total, had been out of work for twelve months, down 0.6 percent from a month earlier and down almost 26 percent from December 2010.

 

Seasonally-adjusted figures show the number of job-seekers fell by 2,500.

 

According to Central Statistical Office data, the unemployment rate was 10.6 percent in Sept-Nov. 2011.
